Call for Abstracts
Abstracts are now being accepted for the Fourteenth International Symposium on Recent Advances in Drug Delivery Systems. All abstracts must be received by the Symposium office before JANUARY 4, 2009. Abstracts must be submitted electronically.
The Symposium poster session will be held on Monday, February 16, 2009. The poster board dimension is 4 ft tall X 8 ft wide (120 cm tall X 240 cm wide) and the board will have a designated poster number assigned to each board. The poster number coincides with your placement (number) in the "Table of Contents" in the Abstract Book, which will be distributed at registration. Four outstanding abstracts will be chosen for publication in the special issue of the Journal of Controlled Release.

Abstract Format (Submitted Electronically as .pdf)
- Each abstract should be 1-2 pages in length. Selected relevant references should refer to more detailed discussions of methodologies, comprehensive reviews of the research area or major contributions in the research area.
- Page format: Select size as "US Letter or 8-1/2" x 11".
- Printer font should be 12 pitch or point and either Times (this font), Helvetica, Arial, or a similar font.
- Margin settings
- Page 1: Top margin=2"; Left margin= 1.25"; Right margin= .75"; Bottom margin= 1"
- Page 2: Top margin=1"; Left margin= 1.25"; Right margin= .75"; Bottom margin= 1"
- Figures or illustrations should be incorporated in jpeg, tiff or gif file format.
- Do not number the pages.
**If margins are not followed correctly, abstract will be returned for correction if time allows. Otherwise the abstract will not be published.**
Abstract Content
The following formats should be applied:

- Title should be typed in BOLD, ALL CAPITAL LETTERS on the first line. The title should be centered. If the title is too long, then it may be extended to the next line.
- Authors’ Names should be inserted triple space after the title. The presenting author should be the first author listed. Use initials only for the first names. The line should be indented from the left margin.
- Presenting speaker’s Affiliation should be double space after Authors’ names. Affiliation should also be indented from the left margin.
- Presenting speaker’s address should be indented from the left margin. The First Letter in Each Word should be Capitalized.
- Other contributing authors’ affiliations and addresses, if different from the presenting author should be included as footnotes at the end of the first (Title) page. Text should include an introduction briefly stating the hypothesis for the investigation, experimental section, results and discussion, and conclusion. Include appropriate references that will provide the reader with further details of the experimental methods, supporting publications, etc.
Section Headings
Introduction, Experimental Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, and, References should be on separate lines and typed in BOLD, CAPITAL LETTERS. Leave a blank line above and below each major section heading. Section headings should be flush with the left margin.
Paragraphs
Do Not Indent Paragraphs. Leave one blank line between paragraphs.
Figures and Tables
Figures and Illustrations should be drawn in dark, black lines. They should be placed on the same page they are referenced to in the text. Figures should be numbered. A simple descriptive title may be included below the figure or illustration. Tables should be included on the same page they are referenced to in the text. Tables should be numbered and a simple descriptive title may be included above the table.
Equations
Equations should be typed on a separate line and centered. If they are referred to later in the text, then include appropriate equation numbers.
References
References should be collected at the end of the abstract. They should be cited with in the texts by number in order of their first citation. The reference number should be (enclosed within parentheses and not superscripted). References should be presented in the following styles:
- R.J. Good, BOOK TITLE, Publisher, City (year).
- R.J. Good, N.S. Miller and J. Smith, “Article or Book Chapter Title”, in: BOOK TITLE, R.J. Brown, ed., Publisher, City (year) pp. (inclusive page numbers).
- D.J. Brown, R.M. Green and S.L. White, Abbreviated Journal Name, Volume: inclusive page numbers (year).
Acknowledgements
Acknowledgements should be included as a separate line after the reference section.
