General Information
The Fourteenth International Symposium on Recent Advances in Drug Delivery Systems will be held at the Sheraton Hotel, Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, February 15-18, 2009. Consistent with its long, rich tradition, the symposium brings together multi-disciplinary researchers in the areas of pharmaceutics, polymer and materials science, imaging, cell and molecular biology, and medicine.
The 14th Symposium's general theme, "Drug Carriers: Beyond Delivery," will explore the increasing use and exploration of drug carriers to improve therapeutic efficacy, enable difficult-to-deliver drugs, alter pharmacokinetic/dynamic profiles, and surmount physiological barriers. This theme will also focus on newer, more innovative uses of drug carrier technology in advanced imaging methods, targeting, enhanced ciculation half-life, and vaccine use. Leading academic and industrial scientists and experts from North America, Europe and Asia will participate in the symposium. A diverse, inspiring technical program is planned.
The 14th Symposium will be dedicated to Professor Teruo Okano (Tokyo,
Japan), a notable creative mind and productive international contributor for
nearly 3 decades in diverse aspects of polymer drug delivery, biomedical
materials and biomedical science innovation. As teacher, scientist,
technologist, academic visionary and entrepreneur, Prof. Okano has
tirelessly worked for internationalization of the field, exchange and
leveraging of ideas, and mentoring of young minds who represent future
progress. He has produced new academic centers and collaborations across
various medical and biotechnology fields, exposing a diverse array of
different researchers to cross-cutting ideas and novel break-through
concepts in biomedical applications of polymers. He attended the earliest
Salt Lake City Drug Delivery Symposium as a visiting faculty at Utah and now
returns as its honoree.

Call for Abstracts-to open, Spring, 2008!!
Abstracts are now being accepted for the 14th International Symposium on Recent Advances in Drug Delivery Systems. If you are interested in presenting your work during the poster session at the conference, please submit an abstract for review. Abstracts must be received prior to JANUARY 4, 2009. Accepted abstracts will be included in the final program of the Symposium. Four outstanding abstracts will be chosen for publication in the special issue of the Journal of Controlled Release. Go to Call for Abstracts for additional information.
Registration
The registration fee of $695 per person includes continental breakfast, coffee breaks, reception, banquet dinner, abstract book and all related handout materials. Late registration after January 14, 2009 will be $725 per person. Discounted Graduate Student and Post Doc registration is available for $250 per person (excludes reception and banquet). Register for the Symposium.
On-site registration will begin Sunday, February 15, 2009. As only, a limited number of spaces are available for this symposium; an early reply will guarantee your participation. It is also recommended that airline reservations be arranged well in advance, as February is a peak time for skiing in this area.
